Prof. Ana Claudia Arias, Miki Lustig, and graduate student Joe Corea's work in printable and wearable electronics are featured in a STAT article titled "Electronics 'like a second skin' makes wearables more practical and MRIs safer for kids.(link is external)" Their research revolves around using printers loaded with a variety of high-tech inks to make a new generation of medical devices that be worn to barely noticeable MRI hardware. They have created light and flexible MRI coils that improve image quality as well as helping patient comfort. They have spun off a company called InkSpace Imaging to help push development.
